It’s been one of my bucket list items to tell a story at the Moth’s StorySlam. After years of thinking about it, I finally did it in December 2023. Much to my surprise, I won. Because of that, I was invited to tell another story at the GrandSlam at the Huntington Theater in Boston on March 17th, 2025.
It was an incredible experience and I enjoyed every bit of it, although I did not win. I was a little nervous since it was my first time at the GrandSlam — and as luck would have it, I was the first to go on stage by a random drawing! I stumbled a couple of times, but I think I did okay as a first-timer and as someone who used to have stage fright, at least that’s what I keep telling myself!
Congratulations to all the other storytellers with whom I had the honor to share the stage! We did it! A big shoutout to Andi Brown, who took the crown that evening! Your story is at the same time poignant and hilarious! That’s certainly not an easy combination to pull off. But you did it so beautifully. Kudos!
